The act of creating art tends to be a solitary endeavor. And, through the years, both Don Aggerbeck and Jane Pederson have explored their individual artistic paths. Don has focused on creating drawings and watercolors that reflect his interests in nature, religion and philosophy, and in architectural designs. Jane has focused her interests on abstractions. She has played with color, textures, depth, light, minimalism, illusions and mark-making in her paintings.
Within the last few years, they have collaborated on artwork to see how the works would look by bringing all of these interests together. Their artistic collaborations are created using the pseudonym pederbeck Arte gruppe. The collaborations began as collages but have expanded to incorporate mixed media, drawing, painting, photography and computer techniques. Many of the images become postcard art and greeting cards. The postcards are mailed to friends, fellow artists and relatives and even played a role in their courtship and marriage. One of their collages was selected by the Emergency Foodshelf Network as an Artwork for Tummies holiday card for 2007 and 2008. They have also created several videos with their original music from the pederbeck Arte gruppe images. It is hoped that the videos help cultivate positive thoughts that produce health and well-being. A DVD of the first four videos is available from pederbeck Video.
Don and Jane met in 1989 while working for a fine art publisher. Both have backgrounds in art and produced artwork individually prior to their meeting and continue to do so. Don graduated from St. Olaf College and studied at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Jane has a degree in fine arts from The University of Iowa.
Don and Jane’s collaborations have expanded their artistic “vocabulary” and opened them to different ideas, compromise, acceptance and growth.
It is their hope that their on-going journey will speak to you. They invite you visit their website:
